Thornthwaite - Keswick GB
Thwaite Howe is a country house built of local stone in the 1860's. It is situated in it's own attractive grounds of two and a half acres. Thornthwaite Forest provides a stunning backdrop at the rear, and the house stands in an elevated position looking across the Derwent Valley to the magnificant views of Skiddaw, Blencathra and Helvellyn. The Dining room and lounge take full advantage of the panorama, being located at the front of the Hotel. The Hotel is centrally heated throughout, there is an efficient drying room and in inclement weather you will a log fire blazing in the lounge. We place great emphasis on creating an atmosphere of friendliness and informality, offering value for money and delicious home cooking, prepared from the freshest local produce. Begin your day with a hearty Cumbrian breakfast, a packed lunch can be provided if required, and return to a delicious table d'hote dinner, complemented by fine wines including our excellent house wines. Well behaved dogs are welcomed, however they should be kept on a lead and not, of course, taken into the dining room or, if other guests object, the lounge.Unfortunately, due to the steep surrounding terrain, we cannot allow children under the age of 12 to stay at Thwaite Howe.
